I was born in Cracow in 1960. I began my education at Primary School No. 1 and later attended King John III Sobieski Secondary School No. 2. From there I went to Jagiellonian University where in 1984 I graduated with a Masters Degree in Sociology and in 1994 I obtained a Doctorate in Humanistic Sciences in the faculty of sociology.

My wife, Dorota Boruta, is a sociologist too, and works as a teacher at Primary School No. 11, an integrated school (an integrated school is one where the youngest classes do not have separate lessons, all subjects being all taught together). Our son, Konrad Boruta, is a pupil in the 2nd Class of Bartlomiej Nowodworski Upper Secondary School No. 1.
I had for many years intended to produce a book about the Boruta family connections, collecting articles, snippets of information and photographs. The original intention was to produce a record in book form, primarily for the benefit of my own children and any children they might have. However, times change, and the transmission of information by computer has altered dramatically and with it my aims have altered too, to cater for a wider audience.
