NEWS ITEMS - AUGUST 2001
Thanks to an intensive correspondence with Michael Daniel Boruta of Lowell, Michigan, and the wealth of family information he has been able to provide we will shortly be able to enlarge the page with biographies of many people from the Podlasie-Michigan branch of the family. We are still finalising details.
Many thanks too for the letter from Richard T. Boruta from Grand Rapids. With the help of Richard's letter I have been able to up-date details of Richard and his family.
Lukasz Boruta from Bydgoszcz has kindly written enclosing his photograph, which now appears on the page, and has provided additional information about his family.
On the internet pages of Tygodnik Siedlecki I found Krzysztof Boruta from Sokolow Podlaski and Wiktor Boruta from Siedlce.
The Polish State telephone directory on its internet pages lists only two districts of the 49 districts at present. Even so I was able to find 5 people in Poznan with the Boruta surname and 21 in Warsaw.

I have been able to add to the page 27 people with the Boruta family name living in and around Korycin in the Podlasie province in Eastern Poland. Another four individuals from this region emmigrated to the USA at the end of the 19th Century and early in the 20th Century (more information appears on the American pages). Polish and American members of this family are identified by the initials (p-m) for Podlasie-Michigan after the name. For all this information I am indebted to Michael D. Boruta from Lowell, Michigan.

Happy Birthday to Jane Maureen Boruta from Michigan who celebrates her birthday on the 4th, also to Mariusz Boruta from Sanok on the 19th and my dear Mum - Maria Boruta from Krakow born on the 30th September. To you all Happy Birthday and 100 years !!!
This month I have been able to add to the page another 31 members of the Boruta family in America with roots in Podlasie Korycin, and 5 others in the United States, thanks to information from Michael Daniel Boruta in Lowell, Michigan. Again all members of this branch of the family, both in Poland and in America, have the initials (p-m) after their names.
Bozena Boruta-Gojny was a candidate in the Parliamentary Elections which took place on the 23rd September. She sought a seat in the Lower House of the Parliament (Sejm) with the support of the League of Polish Families. She was not successful on this occasion, but polled 1899 votes in District 29 in Gliwice, the second best result of all LPF candidates. It was a commendable effort.

Birthday Celebrations for this month are: 3rd Julie Lynn Boruta from USA, 10th Karl Boruta from Austria, 11th Bishop Jonas Algimantas Boruta from Lithuania, 26th Roman Edward Boruta from USA and 30th Janusz Boruta from Wroclaw.

Through the Index of Persecuted Persons released on the internet through the Karta Historical Centre, we discovered three more people - Anna Boruta, who lives in the Eastern Territories, Josef Boruta soldier in the Second World War from 1939 and later prisoner in Soviet Camps and Gulags, and also his father Kazimierz.
Searching through American Genealogical Records I came across four individuals with the Boruta surname - Charles C. Boruta, sergeant in the United States Army, and three others mentioned in records at the beginning of the 20th Century as living in South Dakota.
On the internet pages of Super Express I found Dorota Boruta from Krosno.

The Polish Genealogical Society of America published a list of soldiers serving in the army of General Joseph Haller, including Jan and Jozef Boruta from East Chicago and Wladyslaw Boruta from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
From the internet records from the German city of Bremen I noticed reference to Maryja Boruta, then 42 years old, travelling to New York.
Thanks a lot for letter from Anna Boruta-Hill in West Sussex, England. With her contribution we add Great Britain to our list of countries with Boruta family members and also learn about Phenylketonuria (PKU), a recessive inherited condition which could effect some Boruta family members.

This month I have been able to add to the page 2 simplified family trees - "Podlasie-Michigan" and "Zgierz-London". I have indexed all the people I know about with the surname Boruta, linking them with the appropriate family tree or, if there is not enough biographical information, they are allocated to the appropriate country.
The family page now includes two photographs of Henryk Boruta, and also photographs of Franciszek (Frank), Konstanty (Konstantine), Stanislawa (Stella) and Walery (Valentine) Boruta, all first-generation immigrants to the United States.
On another page you can find three colour photographs Herman Joseph Boruta with his sisters, Michael Daniel Boruta with his family and Regine (Jean) Mildred Boruta with all 8 of her children. For all of the above, many thanks to Michael Daniel Boruta of Lowell, Michigan.
